Taking the place of the outdated Humpback Taunus, it introduced the modern pontoon body with its smooth side walls at Ford Germany. Its nickname stems from the distinctive emblem adorning its front: A small plastic globe sat in a central position above the radiator grille and symbolized the ambition of the Ford Group to cater to the global market.
